Current Activity Summary We have seen a good blend of participation this quarter.  Some members extended their profiles to 25 or 37 markers. A new 37 marker participant joined.  And a new 12 marker participant joined -- our first Haplogroup "E" OMahony!!! Welcome!

Profile 45180 extended to 25 markers and proves a perfect match at 25 markers with profile 12109.  We're interested to hear if this leads to new genealogical common ground.

Profile 68777 extended to 37 markers and improves the data for comparison to profile 96288.  The two match 100% at 25 markers and now show a difference of 1 at 37 markers (see report 8).

Profile 115168 joined at the 37 marker level.  No direct matches, but, like all of us so far, their detail markers confirm some patterns and extend new ones.  One interesting thing from the statistical analysis view is how the addition of this profile has "re-arranged" the graphing pattern for the profiles in the D, K and L branches of the clan.  Not overly significant in itself but it shows the power of numbers.  As more members join the statistical programs start to get to where certain patterns are considered more reliable than other.  Up to that point it's almost like flipping a coin in how the programs finalize the graphing arrangement.  At just a few dozen profiles in the clan analysis so far, the statistics programs are still stretching their limits.

Profile 108376 is our first Haplogroup "E" OMahony.  FTDNA predicts their detail haplogroup as "E3B1".  For those interested in knowing more about "e3b" this site seems relevant:   http://www.haplozone.net/e3b/project.  Since Haplogroups define significant differences in ancient genealogy it seems appropriate to start a new classification on our graphs for this profile's branch group:  Hence "e12Mod" as noted in the diagram.

The diagram below uses the a "genealogically" significant comparison to arrive at branch groupings.  That means that two profiles need to be within 3 variances of each other to be within the same group.

The 12-marker profiles have been colorized brown, the 25+ marker profiles yellow.
The spreadsheet summary below groups each profile with its tentatively assigned Branch-Modal value. The leftmost column is the branch group indicator. The rightmost two columns show the distance when compared to the Clan_modal profile and that branch group's modal profile.

Mind you there are still too few participants for this to be anything but tentative.

Also listed is each branch group's modal profile and shown, to the right of each, how distant that group's modal profile is from the clan modal profile.
