November 2007:
12 Marker Analysis
Return to Analysis Report Index
prior report next report
This first Report in the this intoductory series shows some basic patterns when using the 12 markers common to all 21 current participants.

The first chart shows the basic distance to a "modal" profile (at the top of the chart) which is calculated from the other 21 profiles. It is color coded to show the relative distance to the modal. It also includes a "Total Distance" column that shows the total count of differences there are per profile compared to the modal profile. Using 12 markers you mostly want to see total distances of 1 or 2; As you can see our data is much more complex than that.
This second chart shows two different types of patterns that we can see in the data even though the distances are large. The chart was sorted differently from the one above to allow better visualization and highlighting of the patterns.
The four column patterns noted below the chart somewhat identify "signature" values for the clan or rather of some ancestral branches of the clan. Each marker's values concentrate into two primary values one step apart from each other.

The two sets of row patterns noted to the right of the chart that are identical at 12 markers (one with 2 individuals and one with 4 individuals) probably denote some more recent relationship pattern (hard to be sure with only 12 markers).

The one row pattern with the 13/13/28 pattern highlighted in yellow might also denote a relationship because it involves 3 identical variances from the rest of the participants. One or two might be coincidence, but 3 identical variances on a 12 marker profile might indicate a common ancestor.
